Update – the law is up and running. The board announced on February 24th that the application for the Doctor Act and the Physician Graduate license are up and running. In the 2025 Texas Legislature a new law passed regarding International Medical Graduates and medical school graduates that failed to Match. The new IMG law will become effective January 2026. The Legislature gave the Texas Medical Board time to develop rules and new applications. Please don’t be fooled by all the entities out in Google land that who are attempting to explain the new law. Until the Texas board has the rules in place, please don’t assume anything. Here at Garanflo and Meyer we are very excited to see the outcome of the board’s rule making process.
